I am a child of Genocide. When I was just 3 years old, my mother fled my motherland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, with my sister and I to ensure that we were not murdered by Serb forces. My family was lucky to survive this brutal genocide. However, my grandparents, uncle and many other family members weren’t. We fled to Germany and eventually ended up in the US years later. Our story isn’t pretty but it is a story of perseverance and survival. The trauma always stayed with me but it also reconnected me back to parts of myself that I have lost so many years ago. It wasn’t until my father was diagnosed with cancer that I got into Reiki and had a major spiritual awakening. This awakening led me back to myself. My Reiki business became my solace. Reiki brought me back to myself and it brought me back to my spiritual gifts, most importantly. I didn’t expect my business to grow as fast as it did but I now understand that was all Gods doing. Helping others is my purpose. I am a firm believer that our pain also serves as our purpose only if we are brave enough to face it. I think of myself as a guide to help others do the same so that they can reconnect with their power and walk in Divine Alignment.
